Food Distribution
For over 15 years, one of our most significant efforts has been providing nutritional support to families in vulnerable situations. In Chile, the cost of food is one of the primary household expenses. This burden disproportionately affects low-income families, who are often forced to make the impossible choice between basic needs like food, housing, or healthcare. In this context, our work is essential to ensuring that those in the greatest need have access to dignified nutrition.
In our early years, the high cost of retail groceries was a significant barrier that limited our reach to only a few individuals; however, a major turning point occurred in May 2022 when, after successfully navigating the necessary legal procedures in Chile, we obtained official authorization to purchase "rescued food" from major supermarkets. These products are perfectly safe for human consumption but feature minor defects such as damaged packaging, labeling errors, or approaching expiration dates, which would otherwise lead to their disposal. This strategic initiative has revolutionized our ministry, allowing us to acquire large volumes of high-quality food at a significantly reduced cost and ensuring that every donor contribution is maximized to feed more families in need throughout our community.
Our efforts extend far beyond the city of Rancagua, reaching the Fifth Regio(Valparaíso), the Metropolitan Region (Santiago), and the Biobío Region, allowing us to deliver essential aid to the most vulnerable populations across central and southern Chile.
